26. It's About Time 

 Ninety-seven the election looms 

 Number ten who'll grace its rooms 

 The labour leader his name's Blair 

 Such grace such flair he surely seems fair 

 Even the bookies say make a wager 

 By the final count he'll certainly pip Major 

 

For those of you old enough to remember it, the 1997 UK general election was a monumental turning point in British politics, as well as labour election history. A fresh young politician named Tony Blair won a unanimous victory over the conservative prime minister John Major. Tony Blair went on to emulate the legendary Margaret Thatcher, to win three consecutive UK general elections. To this day, they are the only two prime ministers to have achieved this feat.
